Luke13:31-35 On The Third Day
Pharisees warned Jesus that King Herod wanted to kill him (Luke
13:31-35 ESV). Jesus replied, "Go and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast
out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I
finish my course.’”
Jesus purposed to accomplish the mission! Jesus came to save
sinners, like you, like me. No threats were going to deter Him from
freeing people from the power of sin, death, and the devil. Jesus
continued to preach, teach and heal until the time came for His death
in Jerusalem. The ‘third day’ He finished His ministry through death
on the cross, “It is finished!”
He healed mankind through the cross. The cross broke the chains of
sin. Christ’s death put to death to sin’s power to separate us from
God and His kingdom for all who believe. He paid the penalty of sin,
once for all. He won victory for you. The Father proved this by
raising Christ from the dead on the ‘third day’ accepting His
sacrifice for you.
Jesus said that He longed to gather believers in Jerusalem like a hen
gathers her brood, but they would not. Unfortunately, today many
people still reject the gracious offer of eternal life in Christ
Jesus. On the ‘third day’ it is too late.
The Bible says that one day is like a thousand years and a thousand
years like one day to God. Christ will return to gather believers
unto Himself and to judge mankind. We await the ‘third day.’ On
that Day, every eye will see Him and multitudes will proclaim:
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" But, unbelievers
will mourn that day eternally.
What day is it for you?
