In addition to what your chapter may be planning to help earthquake victims in Haiti, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is launching a national $3 million “Helping Haiti” effort at Thrivent.com/helpinghaiti.

We will contribute $1, up to $1 million, for every $2 in donations members make by March 31to the following:

• Lutheran World Relief
• ELCA Disaster Response
• LCMS World Relief/Human Care
• WELS Committee on Relief

That means a potential of more than $3 million for relief efforts: $2 million —or more—from members and the added $1 million.

Please encourage members who want to partner with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in responding to this disaster to make donations at Thrivent.com/helpinghaiti or by calling 800-236-3736 between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. When prompted, say "directory" and enter ext. 83003.

Redeemer is conducting a food pantry drive to help replenish the 12 area food pantries in Baytown.  The demand has been so great that most of them are bare.  Please bring any non perishable pantry item to the church on your next visit. Toiletries and cleaning supplies also accepted.  We will continue through the months of August and September. We have chosen to assit Trinity Tabernacle next door since we do not have the facilities for a pantry of our own.  We are working through LOVE INC - Love in the name of Christ. LOVE INC is also depleted if you wish to make a donation.

I am very excited that Mrs. Dallas MacDonald was appointed to become the Director of Christian Youth (DCY).

For many years we have needed a person to plan, coordinate and conduct youth activities from pre-school through young adult at Redeemer.  God has blessed us with a willing, energetic and talented person in Dallas MacDonald. She is a rostered LCMS teacher,experienced with education and youth programs. Please welcome her to Redeemer.
